Theo Heads to Oxford Union for Exclusive Q&A
On Wednesday 6th March, Theo Paphitis was a guest of the Oxford Union for an exclusive Q&A with the Oxford Union President, Dan Wilkinson. Attended by students, Theo was put through his paces before the questions came in from the floor.
Theo fielded questions on his early career, the roots of his success and grit and was pushed on whether entrepreneurs are born, or whether there are skills that can be nurtured. Theo was clear that you should always give it a go though “Unless you try you don’t know how good you’ll be.”
Dan pushed Theo on his views on the government and the part they play in the pressures on the High Street, issuing a stark warning as to the results of inactivity: “The government has no will or time to legislate and that is damaging. If we wait til after Brexit, it might just be too late.”
Theo was also questioned on his dyslexia and credits it with his work ethic and in particular his ways of working around problems. “I didn’t have a clue in the classroom and I couldn’t solve problems like my friends, but I was incredibly competitive and knew I wasn’t thick - I had to find ways to get over challenges.”
Questions from the audience put the spotlight on Theo’s Dragons’ Den run and also his current views on politicians and the Brexit process.
The Video of this interview will be up on the Oxford Union You Tube channel shortly.
