On Tuesday 24th April, Theo travelled to Redhill to take a trip down memory lane, and officially unveil the brand new offices for Plan Insurance. When the Thatcher Government granted council tenants the right to buy their homes in the early 1980’s, Plan Insurance Co-Founder, Peter Georgiades, needed financial advice.Theo, then aged 22 and working at Legal & General, provided the necessary guidance and arranged a suitable mortgage. In 1989, when Peter and his eldest son Scott Georgiades were seeking to establish their insurance business, the equity from that house purchase was used to fund their start-up.

Twenty nine years later the business has evolved into The Plan Group Limited, trading as Plan Insurance Brokers, run by Scott and his two brothers, Grant and Ryan, with Dad still putting in a shift. Continuing the entrepreneurial spirit and hardworking example they grew up with, they still continue to develop and improve the business. After a chance meeting at a Children with Cancer Ball, Theo arranged to attend the opening and meet up with Peter and his wife Gail, after all those years, to celebrate their success.

Speaking at the event Theo Paphitis said:

"Being in Redhill, opening these fantastic offices, and hearing about how the business has grown is unbelievable. It epitomises everything I believe in about small businesses, family businesses. It's about getting up and just doing it, as opposed to spending forever planning it...I wouldn't have wanted to miss this, it's a wonderful achievement and it's great to see everyone again after 36 years."

The evening celebrated the hardwork and success of the business and how important decisions you make in business can be, even after all these years!
