On supporting creatives, TV Dragon and Owner of LGC, Theo Paphitis said: “I’ve been blown away by the quality of submissions into the competition this year, a true testament to the UK art scene. A massive congratulations to the winners, and also the finalists who contributed to the competition - job well done!”
The LGC Art Prize, People’s Choice Award and The One to Watch Award were the three coveted prizes up for grabs - adding to a combined cash and prize value of £11,000.
Eleven artworks were shortlisted for the LGC Art Prize final, and in what proved to be a challenging judging process amidst such high-quality entries, the winners of the LGC Art Prize were:
Robin Danely was crowned winner of the LGC Art Prize, winning £5000 in cash, a £500 voucher from Liquitex, Winsor & Newton, a £500 voucher from Pebeo and a £500 Lightfast product bundle from Derwent.
Robin Danely - Judges’ Winner: "I’m shocked and surprised to be the winner of this award. My main goal as an artist is to communicate visually what I’m feeling, and for this piece to have achieved that feels really rewarding. I’m grateful to Theo and the London Graphic Centre for investing in art.”
Ioana Elecfi was bestowed winner of the People’s Choice Award by the public, winning £2,000 in cash, £250 worth of materials from London Graphic Centre, and a £250 product bundle from Derwent.
On winning the One to Watch award, Yasser Claud-Ennin said: “I’m still trying to find the words to describe what winning this award means to me. I’ve been coming to the London Graphic Centre since I was a teenager, and to be recognised by them is amazing.”
