Theo joins the Chancellor Rishi Sunak panel to discuss the future of entrepreneurship and innovation…
Theo was amongst a handful of businesses to be invited to join a HM Treasury panel, hosted and chaired by the Chancellor, the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, on Thursday January 21st. The half hour virtual panel was tied into the Government’s Plans for Jobs initiative, focusing on the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation going forward, and also the support given to many businesses since the Covid pandemic began in March 2020.
Theo was joined by Charlotte Crosswell, of Innovate Finance, Tom Barton of Honest Burgers, and Saravanan Sathyanandha and Melissa Ranger from Monolith AI. The panel covered their experiences of the pandemic so far, how they adapted their businesses, support received and what that meant to their business and colleagues and also looking at what is coming next.
Theo commented that: “Where there is disruption there is also opportunity. I believe the future will be entrepreneur-led. It doesn’t have to be original, it just has to be better and improving a model. Don’t wait for that Eureka moment in the bath to happen, or you’ll shrivel up! For me, online retail has a massive future.”
The Chancellor closed the session with some positivity: “Yes, things are challenging right now, but we can look forward with hope and with optimism. This gives us the confidence in the future and our recovery.”
